Sounds crazy, but it’s true. We learned this first hand on our most recent DNA team event – a tutored tasting at the Beer Academy. It was an opportunity to put an end to a problem at DNA that had been brewing for years now. We all like to drink wine, but only a few of us are beer drinkers… and it’s been the source of much consternation!
Of course we’re joking, but it was a chance to learn the finer points of the art of brewing, and appreciate the detail and craftsmanship that goes into a super stein of suds. Perhaps the most interesting aspect was the cheese pairing… yes, cheese pairing. We learned that beer has much of the complexities usually attributed only to wines, and when properly paired, beer and food can reveal a hidden ‘third’ flavour – 3-year old cheddar and black ale, delicious!
The parallels to the thought and planning we bring to our work were evident, and provided inspiration for us to continually find ways to increase the level of quality and craftsmanship in what we do. To tap into, and provide a ‘hidden’ level of value to our clients, and in turn to their clients. We were also reminded of the importance of keeping our minds open to new ideas and experiences, as proven by those converted DNA team members that may now be seen with a cold one in hand on a patio near you!
