Daniel Valdes is the newest member of the DNA team and we’re thrilled to have such a talented graphic designer and visual artist working with us!
Born and raised in Cuba, Daniel graduated from El Alba, the Professional Academy of Fine Arts in Holguin then continued his studies at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana. He moved to Canada in 2010 and recently graduated from George Brown College’s advanced college diploma in graphic design.
Daniel joined the DNA team in March and we quickly put his talents to work, notably on projects for Delisle Youth Services and Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC).
Daniel says his training as a visual artist helps him be a better graphic designer. “My creativity and years of art training allow me to bring a different perspective to my work. I’ve been painting all my life. Creating is a big part of what I do and who I am.”
Here are just a few examples of Daniel’s stunning art:
“Both paintings represent explorations of the dripping technique as well as visual and tactile textures. All my abstract work is basically about me exploring new creative and technical possibilities.”
“The arm is part of a series that is closer to what I have always done—a more realistic approach and a fascination with the human body and the beauty of its interaction with other objects.”
When he isn’t creating, Daniel spends some of his free time watching Netflix. “I’m a Netflix Junkie. I love House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black, everything!” He also loves to dance—salsa, merengue, bachata—at El Convento Rico in Toronto’s Ossington and College area.
