Every year on August 12, we celebrate International Youth Day, a UN-sponsored day that highlights issues affecting the youth of the world, and this year the focus is on civic engagement.
In Canada, the non-charitable organization Apathy Is Boring is working to get Canada’s 5.5 million millennials involved in the democratic process. This is so important because many of the issues that will be decided on in the October federal election will have a big impact on Canadian youth.
Delisle Youth Services is another great organization here in Toronto that’s working to help young people. We’ve been working with DYS for over 10 years. We not only rebranded the organization but have also worked on everything from annual reports and collateral material to donor materials, fundraising, and curriculum tools.
What we admire most about the organization is seeing how the kids are transformed over the years with Delisle’s help. The leadership and staff have the biggest hearts and go above and beyond on a shoestring budget. They’re innovative and resourceful when it comes to getting the most out of their donor dollars.
Most recently we worked with Delisle on SESSIONS, a drug education program for parents and teens. Check out the companion app DYS developed, called Getting High (available for free on iTunes or Google Play). We’ll be working with them over the next few months on their social media campaign.
